Crash and roll

July 9, 2012

Tiffany Lynn Gomez, 27, was driving a Kia Sedona Van on McLin Creek Road when she applied the brakes and the vehicle wouldn’t slow down, according to Newton Police reports.

When she entered the road’s intersection with N.C. 16 Bypass, she was struck in the driver’s side by a Ford F150 driven by William Charles Arney, 72. The impact rolled the van on its side as it slid through the intersection before it landed on its wheels again.

Both drivers were transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries after the wreck about 10:20 a.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police Gomez ran a red light at the intersection.
