All of Catawba County’s high school swim teams meet at the Hickory YMCA tonight for the annual county swim meet.

The event, which starts at 6 p.m., features teams from Maiden, Fred T. Foard, St. Stephens, Hickory, Newton-Conover and Bandys.

The Red Tornadoes are the defending champions of the meet, winning both the boys and girls titles one year ago at Lenoir-Rhyne’s Aquatic Center.

Hickory’s boys team earned 100 points last year, finishing 27 points ahead of Fred T. Foard.

In girls action, the Lady Red Tornadoes’ 91 points were good enough to edge St. Stephens’ 77 points.
