County makes drug arrest

On Nov. 11, Narcotics Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff's Office and Newton Police Department conducted a search warrant at the address of 5265 Swinging Bridge Rd. in Conover. As a result of this search warrant, a marijuana growing operation and firearms were seized.

The occupant of the property, Sidney Miller DeRamus, previously convicted felon was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Scheduled VI, Maintaining a Dwelling for a controlled Substance, Manufacturing Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
