June 4, 2012

Catawba County commissioners unanimously approved a $226.4 million budget on Monday that includes significant funding for local schools and money for additional projects approved last week.

The 2012-13 fiscal year budget, which eliminates six county positions yet adds another seven jobs, maintains the county’s current property tax rate of 53 cents per $100 of valuation.

The county’s approved budget also includes an extra $155,162 for changes commissioners’ voted on last week.
