Conover looks forward to changes

October 2, 2012

Conover City Council welcomed new construction and new changes for the city during its Oct. 1 meeting.

Two weeks ago, Conover, Maiden, Catawba, Hickory and Catawba County joined forces to plan for a multi-jurisdictional park. Now, Conover plans to start developing the property with funds received from the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation. The funds are approximately $2.4 million and are  revenue from the sale of the property.

“The idea is to start marketing the park now and to develop another piece of property,” City Manager Donald Duncan said.

Duncan said construction of the two-year long project will begin at the end of the year. The site will include three pads ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 square feet. The city is putting in water, sewer and electrical as well as roads.
