Conover FD SAFER than ever

Last week, Jimmy Stewart, Luis Valladolid and Brian Mackie were paid on-call volunteer firefighters at Conover Fire Department.

Monday, they became full-time firemen after the department officially received the SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant in the amount of $226,434 through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Department of Homeland Security.
