Conover to celebrate the season

December 2, 2011

Conover will officially usher in the holiday season Tuesday.

Christmas in the Park begins at 6:30 p.m. at the city's Downtown Park.

After Mayor Lee Moritz welcomes those in attendance, choirs from Lyle Creek Elementary School, Conover School and Shuford Elementary School will sing a variety of Christmas carols.

Songs will include "Sleigh Ride," "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

The city plans to light its official Christmas tree just after 7 p.m., and Santa Claus will arrive soon after on a Conover Fire Department engine.

The fire department will provide free hot cider and coffee to those who attend.

From 5-7 p.m., volunteers from the Foothills Antique Power Association will offer holiday hayrides.
