Conover to air business online

March 7, 2012

Conover is testing a new "experiment" that will broadcast city council meetings across the Internet and archive meetings for up to a couple of months so citizens can go back and watch them later.

"People don't attend public meetings as they should. They don't take time from their day. What they do is get on social media through YouTube, Facebook, Foursquare, and we have been experimenting with some of that," said Conover City Manager Donald Duncan. "We are trying to bring government to the masses. As our demographics change and demands of the community change, we want to keep up with that."

In other Conover news, Dollar General is exploring a city site for a new location.
