Commissioners accept schedule of values

September 7, 2010

Catawba County residents are one step closer to receiving notices in the mail detailing what their property is worth.
The Board of Commissioners accepted the tax office’s 2011 schedule of values, which outlines how the county’s 87,000 parcels of land will be valued by appraisers.
Catawba County tax administrator Mark Logan presented the schedule of values to the commissioners at the board’s Tuesday meeting.
Following acceptance of the document, the county is required to hold a public hearing on the schedule of values, which is set for Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. during the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting.
Formal adoption of the schedule of values is expected to follow at the commissioners’ next meeting at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 4.
The county is required to publish a notice of adoption on four occasions in area newspapers, and Nov. 3 is the last day for residents to appeal adoption of the schedule of values.
Residents can expect to receive individual property value notices by mid-November.
