Last Friday’s fundraiser game between Maiden and Newton-Conover raised almost $600.

All proceeds raised go toward “Coaches vs. Cancer.”

Money was raised through various donations, a 50/50 raffle held in the third quarter of the boys game and $1 half court shots.

The Coaches versus Cancer Council was formed in 1998 to help raise funds through coaches to fight cancer.

The Newton-Conover and Maiden basketball game was one of several area contests that raised money for the organization.

Hickory Christian Academy will raise money Friday at its game against Statesville Christian.

Coaches vs. Cancer, which raises money all across the country, has garnered close to $50 million in funds with the support of more than 100 high school coaches and 2,000 Div. I, II and III coaches.
