After being formally founded earlier this year, Claremont's Russell and Mary Boggs Center for the Arts has some big ideas for the coming weeks and months.
Some of those include:
* Inaugural Gallery Walk in Claremont – April 20, 5-8 p.m.
Citizens can stroll through town and look at the work of eight local photographers. Photographs will be on display at Claremont Automotive, Claremont Florist, O'Cup Coffee Shop, and Claremont Hardware and Farm Supply. Light food will be provided at each stop, and the event benefits the Russell and Mary Boggs Center for the Arts.
* The Writer’s Cottage
The Russell and Mary Boggs Center for the Arts is currently renovating a small home in town that will become a place southern writers can visit and stay at for months while they finish their book, short story or other piece of work.
* Concert Series
In recent years and months, musicians have also started visiting the Working Title Farm while on the road. Smith is working with the city of Claremont to begin hosting several concerts at the farm for local citizens to enjoy. Some of the artists that have shown interest are Chris Clifton, Jared Carter and Geoff McBride, a North Carolina native recently featured on the television show, “The Voice.”
