City schools over budget for new building

September 25, 2012

Newton-Conover City Schools are still in the process of developing a budget for a proposed new school building.

Assistant Superintendent David Stegall said the school board is still working on revising its budget and reviewing bids before a final decision is made.

The initial bids for the new city school were over the budget for the school. Stegall said Superintendent Barry Redmond plans to meet with the Catawba County Board of Commissioners on Monday, Oct. 1 to discuss the school budget. If more money isn’t allocated to the budget, items will have to be cut from the original plans for the new school.
