Charlotte's Lambert adds 4 coaches, staff complete

July 2, 2012

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte 49ers head football coach Brad Lambert has filled out his 10-person staff by hiring four additional assistant coaches.

Damien Gary will coach the running backs, Drew Dayton the inside linebackers, Johnson Richardson the tight ends and John Russell will be the assistant secondary coach.

Lambert says this group "fits in with the staff that's in place from a character standpoint, a recruiting standpoint and how we treat our players."

Gary is the best known of the four. He was a four-year letterman at Georgia, where he helped key the Bulldogs' 2002 SEC Championship team.

The 49ers will be limited to practice this fall and kick off its inaugural season in 2013 as an FCS Independent. In 2015, they'll join the FBS as a member of Conference USA.
