CCS meal prices, nutrition set to increase

June 12, 2012

Catawba County Schools (CCS) students will pay more for school lunches next year.

School board officials recently agreed to raise prices 15 cents a meal at all schools, making the total lunch price $2.15 for elementary schools and $2.25 for middle and high schools.

Breakfast for all K-12 students will remain $1.

The change stems from “new meal pattern” requirements from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. The change, which will be implemented during the 2012-13 school calendar, will include increases in fruit, vegetable and bread servings for students.
