Catawba woman shot and killed

Catawba County Sheriff’s deputies shot an armed woman near Catawba, Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to a 911 call from a residence at 4787 U.S. 70 East a little after 12:30 p.m.

The caller reported that a female family member there was armed and possibly suicidal.

When officers arrived at the residence, located across the road from James Street and just West of N.C. 10, the woman was outside the house armed with a weapon.
