Catawba says goodbye to town manager Barnett

February 12, 2013

Barnett

After working for 28 months as the Town Manager for the town of Catawba, Brian Barnett is saying goodbye. Barnett’s last day as the Town Manager is Friday, Feb. 15.

Barnett said other than family reasons, the town of Catawba’s budget was out of balance. Barnett said while working with the budget for the year, Catawba needed to cut significantly and he said that meant people. The way to get the budget balanced, Barnett said included two retirees and to cut the manager position from a full-time position and make it a part-time position. Barnett said it was something that the town had seen coming and with a job opening in Mooresville it seemed like the right time to make the cut.
