Catawba County Schools launches bullying campaign

Catawba County School launches a district-wide anti-bullying initiative known as Rachel’s Challenge. The national program honors the memory of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the 1999 Columbine High School shootings. Rachel’s inspiring story provides a simple, yet powerful example of how replacing acts of violence, bullying and negativity with acts of respect, kindness and compassion can lead to a real climate change within a school.

“Catawba County represents the second district on the east coast to adopt Rachel’s Challenge as the anti-bullying program for every school,” Superintendent Brigman said. “We hope that communities throughout the school district will embrace Rachel’s Challenge to ‘start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.’”
