Catawba County arrests, incidents

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office reported the following incidents and arrests:

April 17 incidents
* Someone broke into a vehicle at the Interstate 40 westbound rest area in Claremont. A suspect stole $555 worth of goods, including a handbag, wallet, credit and debit cards, an N.C. drivers license and a Verizon wireless cell phone.

* Someone broke into a motor vehicle at 2432 Longford Drive in Newton. In total, $1,070 worth of goods were stolen, including a semi-auto pistol, narcotics and quarter coin currency.

* Suspects stole $900 worth of goods from a Conover home on N.C. 16, including four handguns, two rolls of quarters and six rolls of dimes.

April 16 arrests
* James Terrence Byrd, 26, of Sherills Ford, was arrested on larceny charges related to a theft at Bandys High School. He was held in the Catawba County Jail on a $7,500 secured bond.

* Kevin Dwight Hull, 38, of Hickory, was arrested on charges of burglary and forcible entry. He was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on no bond

* Manuel Villarreal Jr., 24, of Conover, was arrested on charges of simple assault, simple physical assault and unauthorized use of conveyance. He was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.

* Jeremy Curtis Setzer, 26, of Hickory, was arrested on a charge of simple assault. He was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

* Christopher Michael Johnson, 23, of Hickory, was arrested on a charge of non-support/non-payment of alimony. He was held in the Newton Detention Center on a $150 secured bond.

* Angela Hilton Spurlin, 37, of Maiden, was arrested on two orders of arrests. She was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

* Aaron Tyrone Connley, 22, of Hickory, was arrested on charges of FTA and possession of marijuana. He was held in the Catawba County Detention center on a $1,000 secured bond.

* Ricky Antonio Reid, 52, of Newton, was arrested on charges of FTA and operating a vehicle with no insurance. He was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

* Laporsha Shane Vinson, 21, of Newton, was arrested on an order of arrest. She was held in the Catawba County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

April 12 incidents
* Thieves attempted to remove property from 406 Rock Barn Road NE in Conover. In total, $400 worth building materials were removed.

* Someone stole $2,400 worth of mobile home axes from 1016 Lyle Haven Drive NW lot C-1 in Conover.
