Bucs score 11 runs again, eliminate Falcons

May 28, 2012

For the second-straight day, the CVCC baseball team scored 11 runs, most of them late.

The Bucs won another elimination game in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Div. II World Series against the third-ranked Lackawanna (Pa.) Community College Falcons on Monday, 11-1.

No. 9 CVCC (38-16) led 3-1 before an eight-run eighth easily put the game out of reach for the Falcons (47-12).

Four Bucs drove in a pair of RBIs, including Brett Huffman, Zech Wiggs, Caleb Leatherwood and Carson Plyler.

Rob Cafeiro and A.J. Risso also drove in an RBI each for CVCC.

The Bucs play in a Tuesday rematch with No. 2 Heartland Community College (52-7), a team CVCC lost to in Saturday's opening tournament game, 5-4.

The winner of the CVCC-HCC contest moves on to its next game Thursday at 7 p.m., while the loser will have its season come to an end.

Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. EST (3:30 CST) at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Okla.
