Bucs open new year on court with 99-82 victory

The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team kicked off the new year by defeating South Carolina Sports Academy 99-82 on Saturday.

Five Bucs players scored in double figures, led by Josh McClain with 22 points.

Preston Early chipped in 18 points for CVCC (10-4), while Isaiah Cuthbertson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Travis Frye paced SCSA with 21 points.

The Buccaneers are back in action at home on 7 p.m. Tuesday against No. 1 ranked Louisburg College.
