BREAKING: Women's death investigated as homicide

The death of a woman in Newton on Saturday morning is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Newton Police Department.

Maggie Daniels, 31, was found dead in her apartment at W. 17th Street in Newton at 10:37 a.m. on Saturday.

After a preliminary autopsy, a medical examiner suspects "foul play" is involved.

Daniels, who spent this past year at Discovery High School, is a former teacher and coach at Newton-Conover High School. She was named Newton-Conover City Schools Teacher of the Year in 2011.
