Lenoir-Rhyne University has announced their 19th head football coach in the program’s history.

Ian Shields, previously the offensive coordinator for Army, takes the reigns of the Bears football program.

Shields replaces Mike Houston, who accepted the head coaching position at The Citadel last week.

Shields uses the same spread option offense that led L-R to three consecutive SAC championships and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II National Championship.
