BREAKING NEWS: Kahny hired as Blue Devils' coach

August 28, 2012

Maiden High School has found the man for its boys basketball head coaching job.

Patrick Kahny, a 55-year-old coaching veteran, was officially approved by the Catawba County Board of Education on Monday night to be the Blue Devils next boys basketball coach.

Kahny replaces Doug Miller, who stepped down in March after four seasons as Maiden coach and a 19-75 coaching record.

Kahny has spent the past 22 seasons as the head basketball coach at Westchester Country Day School (WCDS) in High Point, leading the Wildcats to four private school state championships.

He compiled a 430-177 record at WCDS with seven state title game trips and 15 conference championships.

This past season, Kahny led the Wildcats to their fourth North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) state title.

Kahny's resume also includes coaching stints in New Jersey and South Carolina.
