BREAKING: Maiden chooses former Blue Devil

Searching for its football future, Maiden High School decided to dig into its past.

The school officially announced Wednesday that former assistant coach Frank Snider will lead the Blue Devils football program this season.

Snider replaces James "Buddy" King, who resigned last week after replacing Brian Brown as coach Feb. 14.

Snider returns to his roots in Catawba County, where he coached at both Maiden and St. Stephens high schools.

He led the Indians football program from 1999 to 2001, compiling a 3-19 record.

At Maiden, Snider assisted the football program, and he also served as the head coach for the boys basketball team twice, girls basketball for three seasons and baseball program for 20 years.
