Lenoir-Rhyne head football coach Mike Houston has resigned from his position.

Houston's resignation comes on the heels of a Monday meeting with The Citadel for the school's opening for a head football coach.

Houston led Lenoir-Rhyne to a 13-2 record this past season, guiding the Bears to a National Championship game appearance — their first since 1962 and first-ever in NCAA Div. II.

According to multiple media reports, Houston is expected by many to accept the head coaching position at The Citadel.
