The man accused of murdering Maggie Daniels is in custody.

Sharman Howard Odom was arrested on Saturday afternoon in Winston-Salem while visiting relatives in the area.

The Newton Police Department sent out a release at 12:52 p.m. Saturday saying that an arrest warrant for Odom had been obtained on Friday, Aug. 1.

"Physical evidence obtained during the course of the investigation, and analyzed by the North Carolina State Crime Lab, led to the issuance of the arrest warrant," the release stated. "Along with physical evidence, interviews and other corroborating evidence supported the arrest warrant for Odom."

According to the release, Odom lived in the same apartment complex — Windsor Apartments at 100 W. 17th Street in Newton — that Daniels did.

Howard was listed in the release at 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 209 pounds.
