Breaking: Blaze destroys barn

Fire departments from throughout Catawba, Lincoln, Burke, Cleveland counties responded to a barn blaze in the Vale community Monday morning.

Fire crews from nearly a dozen departments responded to a fire at a horse barn valued at $150,000 just of N.C. 10 West on Malcolm Road. In addition to responding with manpower, departments responded with tanker trucks, many of which ferried water between the fire and a hydrant at the intersection of N.C. 10 and Malcolm Road.
