Bobcats to host their training camp in Asheville

September 5, 2012

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Bobcats have announced they'll hold their training camp at UNC Asheville's Kimmel Arena from Oct. 1-6.

Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins said Wednesday the arena is "an ideal place for our players and coaches to prepare for the coming season."

The 3,200-seat Kimmel Arena opened in November 2011 and is home to the UNC Asheville Bulldogs men's and women's basketball teams. This will mark the sixth time in the last eight years the Bobcats have conducted training camp away from Charlotte. The team previously held camp at UNC Wilmington from 2005-08 and in 2010.

UNC Asheville director of athletics Janet Cone says the school is "honored" to host the Bobcats.

The Bobcats open the preseason on Oct. 7 at home against the Washington Wizards.
