Board of Elections Director Brewer retiring Feb. 28

With the director of the Catawba County Board of Elections retiring this month and the 2014 election cycle escalating, the three-member local elections board is scrambling to hire a replacement for him.

Larry E. Brewer, who has led operations of the elections board office in the Catawba County Government Center here since 2000, will retire Feb. 28. The board chairman, Hickory attorney David  W. Hood, says Brewer’s replacement should be selected and employed by March 1.
