Telicia Hefner was running errands before work on Wednesday when she got a disturbing phone call from her business partner.

“She said, ‘You need to get to the salon now. I think we’ve been broken into,’” said Hefner, co-ower of Xposed Salon in Newton.

When Hefner got there, co-owner Jessica McClain was on the floor in tears.

Eight-year-old Zak Luck was wide-eyed with enthusiasm on Tuesday, eager to get inside the voting precinct to cast his ballot. He may be too young for his vote to count in the real election, but he’s already practicing for when it does through Kids Voting.

“I enjoy this because I really want this person to be president,” Luck said.
