Former President Bill Clinton stopped at the Newton home of James and Janet Byrd during his "front porch tour" that spanned Western North Carolina during the weekend. Campaigning for his wife Hillary, the former president attracted a few hundred people to the South College Street home, including area Republicans who voiced an interest in simply seeing a former president. On the wall Hillary Clinton vies for the United States against John McCain and beside that there's a map of the Nile River. And when you step into her room, you're surrounded by paper children donning outfits from places like Mexico and the Philippines. |
