A four-run bottom of the fifth inning helped lift the Hickory Crawdads to a 7-5 victory against the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday at L.P. Frans Stadium.
Trailing 4-3 entering the fifth, but the 'Dads (8-5) took a 6-4 lead behind a two-run triple from second basemen Rougned Odor that scored Jhonny Gomez and Chris Grayson.
Grayson also brought in a run in the inning, plating Jordan Akins on an RBI single. Shortstop Hanser Alberto also drove in a run in the inning with another RBI single that scored Odor.
Hickory took an early 2-0 lead in the contest behind a two-run homer by Zach Cone, his second in as many days.
Kannapolis (6-7) scored an unearned run to get on the board in the top of the second, but Hickory regained a two-run advantage on a solo shot by Akins.
A three-run top of the fifth gave the Intimidators their first lead in the contest, 4-3, including a RBI singles from Grant Buckner and Leighton Pangilinan, as well as an RBI sacrifice fly by Rangel Ravelo.
The 'Dads answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the innning, and the Hickory pitching trio of Nick McBride, Phil Klein and Greg Williams held Kannapolis to one run in the remaining four innings to seal the victory.
McBride improved to 2-0, picking up the win on the mound for Hickory, while Williams earned the save.
