The search for new head coaches in volleyball, cross-county and softball at Bunker Hill High School.

Bears athletic director Lee Miller said this week his hopes to have a new volleyball coach hired as early as this week.

Miller said he has talked to several potential coaching candidates, including one at the school, and also made several phone calls.

The next volleyball coach will replace Julie Harris, who stepped down after six seasons of leading the Lady Bears. Harris also left teaching at BHHS.

Miller also hopes to have a new cross-country coach hired before practice starts on Aug. 1.

John Sullivan stepped down from coaching the Bears cross-country team, but will remain as the school’s track and field coach and a teacher.

As for the Lady Bears softball coach vacancy, Miller expects that the position will not be hired until after school starts.

Danny Sifford left the Bunker Hill softball team after this past season.

The school has openings for Spanish and English teachers, which Miller and school officials are trying to match with potential coaching candidates.
