NEWTON — The Catawba County Board of Commissioners is working to plan for next year, which included electing both a chairperson and vice chairperson of the board on Monday morning at the old Newton Courthouse.

Katherine “Kitty” Barnes, who served as chairperson in 2013, was re-elected to her position.

When it came time to electing a vice-chair, there was a change in leadership.

C. Randall “Randy” Isenhower was appointed as vice-chairperson of the board, replacing Barbara Beatty in 2014.
