Bandys' Matheson fifth county coach in hall

One of the county’s most prestigious sports coaches will take his place Saturday as a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame (NCHSAA).

Mike Matheson, who coached girls and boys basketball at Bandys High School, joins fellow Trojan coach Bill Bost, as well as Newton-Conover’s Don Patrick, Hickory’s Frank Barger and Maiden’s Tom Brown as Catawba County members of the storied hall.
