Auto show rolls into Hickory

January 13, 2012

The inaugural Carolina Auto Racing Show kicked off Friday and continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hickory Metro Convention Center off Lenoir Rhyne Boulevard in Hickory.

The show features a variety of vendors from across the nation who are showcasing and selling products for racers, drivers and car fans.

The show also features models of various types of race cars.

Show officials expect to give away thousands of dollars in door prizes, too.

ASI Racewear, a race apparel company based in New York, is one of many vendors that is providing a display at the show.

ASI's Gene Ullmann said he enjoys having direct relationships with the racers.
“We get to see our customers in this part of the country, which we don’t get to do often,” Ullmann said. “We deal directly with the customers, and when you make the driver’s apparel, there’s a certain bond there.”
