Australian book spotlights Discovery

September 6, 2012

The Discovery High School at Newton-Conover is being featured in an Australian published book.

Two years ago, Discovery High opened up its Wi-Fi to students as a way to enhance the learning environment. Wi-Fi is a wireless internet connection that is available to anyone with a supporting technological device. Some Wi-Fi connections, such as that of a school, require a login to access the Internet through the wireless network. By opening up Wi-Fi to students, Discovery High allows students to connect to the Internet with devices such as tablets, laptops, iPods and smart phones.

Discovery High student Eli Ellis said there are a lot of ways he uses technology — and Wi-Fi — in the classroom.

“We get on Edmodo and Engrade, and we get on blogs and websites that relate to the topics discussed in class,” Ellis said.
