Athletic director Billy Leeson leaving Red Devils

Newton-Conover High School is in search of a new athletic director.

Billy Leeson, who has been AD at the school since March 2012, is leaving to take a position at a middle school in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.

Leeson is a former dean of students at Vance High School. He has 11 total years of experience in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.

Newton-Conover City Schools placed an opening on its website last week for the athletic director position.

Applications were due on Monday for that N-CHS AD job, which requires teaching in a certified area 50 percent of eachs school day.

The next N-CHS athletic director will be the school’s third in four years, joining Lee, Ericia Turner and Don Patrick.
