The Newton Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place Tuesday at the Kangaroo Store at 334 E. 20th Street.

Officers were advised at 2:02 a.m. that a gunman, described as “a light-skinned black male,” entered the store and began calling for the store clerk.

The clerk told police that he heard the door buzzer while in the cooler and encountered the armed man dressed in a dark-colored shirt and black gloves with skeletal bones on the back when returning to the register.
