Area continues data center growth

September 18, 2012

Government action this week paved the way for another data center in the Hickory Metro region.

In the wake of a Google server farm in Caldwell County, Apple Computers iCloud data center in Maiden and Facebook's server site in Forest City, county and municipal government leaders have partnered in hopes of bringing another development — maybe three —  to Conover.

A multi-jurisdictional park planned for a 70-acre tract off N.C. 16 and I-40 in Conover marks the partnership of Catawba County along with municipal governments in Catawba, Conover, Hickory and Maiden.

To read more of this story, pick up the Wednesday print edition of Catawba County's community newspaper, The Observer News Enterprise, at newsstands throughout the county.
