Appalachian State routs Western Carolina, 46-14

BOONE — Drew Stewart kicked a school-record six field goals and Appalachian State routed Western Carolina 46-14 on Saturday.

Stewart scored the Mountaineers' (7-3, 5-2 Southern Conference) first 12 points on field goals of 44, 32, 29 and 21 yards. Stewart added field goals of 27 and 24 yards to break Jay Milson's record of four set against Furman in 1991.

Brian Quick also entered the Appalachian State record books, becoming the all-time leader in career receiving yards. Quick had 111 yards and a touchdown on seven catches against the Catamounts (1-9, 0-8). He broke the record of 3,124 yards set by Rick Beasley from 1978-80 on a 33-yard reception early in the second quarter.

Appalachian State led 39-0 early in the fourth quarter, and held the Catamounts to 11 first downs and 20 yards rushing.

Brandon Pechloff had two touchdowns and 188 yards on 10 of 21 passing for the Catamounts.
