Another second half surge sends Bears to 3-0

Bunker Hill outscored North Lincoln 33-9 in the second half on its way to a 39-16 victory over the Knights in Claremont on Friday.

It was the third time in three weeks that the Bears (3-0) have trailed at halftime only to dominate the second half.

Bunker Hill (3-0) were led by running back Justin Lynch, who tallied 160 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Fellow tailback Jon Sweet added 61 yards rushing and three scores (two rushing).

Trailing 7-6 at the half, the Bears opened the second half with a 63-yard touchdown run by Colton Chapman — the first of six-straight scores by Bunker Hill.

Chapman also connected on two field goals from 30 and 25 yards and tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Sweet.

Justin Lynch added a two-yard run in the second half to push the Bears out front 39-7.

The Knights answered with two late scores, including a safety on defense and a 10-yard touchdown run by Jarmio Thompson, but they were too far behind to catch up.

Bunker Hill goes for 4-0 next week when it travels down Plateau Road for a game against Fred T. Foard (2-1).
