Animal shelters hosting ‘Rabies Day’ events

September 28, 2012

Catawba County Humane Society of Catawba County and Catawba County Animal Services are celebrating World Rabies Day today.

The two animal shelters are each hosting their own events to promote rabies prevention.

On World Rabies Day, the Catawba County Animal Services will hold an “Adopt-Athon” from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. During the day, residents can come visit with pets, get additional information on adoption and get rabies information. During the day, the shelter will also provide free rabies vaccines for county residents. The vaccines at the animal shelter are limited, so shots are given on a first-come-first-serve basis. The shelter also asks the vaccines be limited to one animal per family.
