Ancestor traced to Orphan Train

The Main branch of the Catawba County Library System in Newton boarded a train to the past on Tuesday for a presentation that dated all the way back to 1853.

In conjunction with the Catawba County Genealogical Society, Tammy Wilson presented “Orphan Train.”

She shared her research on the story about how an estimated 250,000 minors were removed from eastern cities to mid-west of America from 1853-1929.
