Alleged rape reported

An alleged rape was reported Thursday in Conover.

Conover Police are investigating the incident, which allegedly occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., said investigator John Little, of the Conover Police Department.

Little said the incident is a "family situation," and the victim knew the attacker. He declined to comment further about the people involved in the incident and where in Conover it allegedly occurred.

The event was reported Thursday about 5:45 p.m., and Little said there was no other physical violence involved besides the alleged rape.

According to the Catawba County Emergency Services scanner feed, officers stayed with the victim for medical treatment at Catawba Valley Medial Center.

Little said the incident remains under investigation.
