Deep in a Costa Rican wet forest, sleeping outside, completely cut-off from technology — that's where you'll find local teacher Betsy Gaither this summer.

Gaither is a fourth grade teacher at North Newton Elementary who grew up in Newton and has a special love for science. Gaither is certified in environmental education and started the science club at North Newton. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree with the Miami University of Ohio, which allows her to take and Earth Expedition each summer.
