Adam Baker set for Catawba court

November 4, 2011

Adam Baker is due in Catawba County court on Monday to face charges of identity theft and obtaining property by false pretenses.

In September, Baker’s attorney, Mark Killian, announced in court that he will pursue a motion for change of venue due to a large amount of biased media coverage surrounding his client’s case.

Baker, the father of the 10-year-old girl Zahra who was brutally murdered last year, is also charged with two counts of communicating threats, assault with a deadly weapon and failure to return rental property in Caldwell County.

District Court Judge Burford Cherry agreed to continue Baker’s case in Caldwell County on Thursday, but reports state that his case could be handed over to a grand jury during the week of Nov. 14.

Adam Baker is the former husband of Elisa Baker, who was sentenced in September to 15-18 years in prison for murdering his disabled daughter Zahra.
