BREAKING: Tony Stewart won't face charges in death

A grand jury in New York ruled Wednesday that three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart won't face charges in the death of Kevin Ward, Jr.

The incident involving Stewart and Ward, Jr. took place on Aug. 9 at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in Canandaigua, N.Y.

Megan Fair had two goals when she started her Bunker Hill volleyball career as a freshman in 2011 — beat Newton-Conover and break the single-match record for kills by the time she was a senior.

In one swift swoop, Fair completed both goals Tuesday night at home against the rival Lady Red Devils.

Panthers FB Mike Tolbert out until Week 13

The Carolina Panthers were dealt yet another blow to their already hampered running back situation on Tuesday.

Fullback Mike Tolbert was placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list, meaning he cannot play until Week 13 of the NFL season when Carolina visits the Minnesota Vikings.

Red Devils are up to sixth in latest prep football poll

Despite being off last week, the Newton-Conover football team once again moved up in the latest Associated Press prep football poll.

The Red Devils (3-0-1) were tied for sixth place with Franklin (4-1) with 69 total votes.

Newton-Conover also received one first-place vote for the third-straight week.
Southwest Onslow is on top of the 2A poll for the second-straight week.

No. 3 Red Devils blank Bears, move to 11-1

The Newton-Conover boys soccer team maintained its dominant play Monday on the road against Bunker Hill.

The Red Devils, ranked third in the latest state rankings in 2A, scored a pair of goals early and held off a late charge by the Bears to come away with a 2-0 conference victory.

The shutout for Newton-Conover (11-1, 5-0) is its eighth this season.
