Red Devils break tie for sixth in latest AP poll

The Newton-Conover football team broke a tie for sixth place in the latest Associated Press prep football poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Red Devils are now in sole possession of No. 6 in the 2A poll after breaking a tie with Franklin, who was one vote behind N-CHS. Newton-Conover once again received one first-place vote in the poll.

Smith shines against former team, Panthers fall 38-10

Six months after being released by the Carolina Panthers, Smith shined against his former team on Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver caught two touchdowns and tallied 139 receiving yards in a 38-10 victory at M&T Bank Stadium.

The charismatic Smith was fired up about his performance following Sunday’s game.

Niners drop second-straight in OT thriller with Bucs

Rallying from 17 points down against Charleston Southern, the UNC Charlotte football team's comeback fell short on Saturday at Richardson Stadium.

The Niners failed to come away with points to start overtime, and the 25th-ranked Bucs scored on a one-yard run by Christian Reyes on the ensuing possession to come away with a 47-41 victory.

Bears rush for 622 yards in 47-9 win over Pioneers

Chris Robinson continued to play the role of "super sub".

The senior fullback rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns for Lenoir-Rhyne University in a 47-9 win over Tusculum on Saturday night.

The Bears (4-0, 2-0 South Atlantic Conference) gained 622 yards and won for the 22nd time in their last 23 home games.

Up three points at halftime, the Maiden football team played a near perfect second half against Bunker Hill.

The Blue Devils scored on three of its four second half possessions and also returned a Bears fumble for a score in a 49-26 win to start conference play.

Surratt, Mustangs knock off Trojans, 48-17

Chazz Surratt threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, leading East Lincoln to a 48-17 victory against visiting in Bandys on Friday night.
