With a 2010 state title under its belt, the Fred T. Foard wrestling team is trying to repeat its success from a season ago.

The Tigers are off to an early 5-1 start with their only loss coming last week against a tough 4A squad in defending state champion Parkland.

CVCC freshman guard Sweezy scores 17 in victory

November 23, 2011

CVCC freshman Matrice Sweezy does a good job giving the basketball to her teammates.

She also succeeds when she keeps the ball in her hands.

Sweezy scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Bucs on Tuesday, leading her team to the 69-41 victory over Mount Olive at CVCC’s Multipurpose Complex.

“She shoots the ball well, but I’d rather see her distribute the ball,” said CVCC coach Tommy Edwards. “She shoots the ball really well. She’s been a pleasant surprise for us, both handling the ball and scoring. We were fortunate when she decided to play for us.”
